Travel Tales and Tips

How NOT to pick a hotel. Here are a few of the things I've learned to avoid when it comes to booking a hotel room:
1. DO NOT book a hotel with a color or number in the name. (Motel 6, Super 8, Red Roof Inn, etc.)
2. DO NOT book a hotel with the words “executive” or “luxury” in the name.
3. DO NOT book a hotel if their pricing includes an hourly option.
4. And most importantly NEVER EVER check in to a hotel through bullet proof glass. I made that mistake once in Laredo, TX. Never again. Sleep in the rental car if you have to.
My personal “go to” hotel when traveling on business is the Hilton Garden Inn chain. Nice accommodations, reasonable price, full services.
